Firepits & Fireplaces

Design Idea:

Decide on the type and style of fire feature you want – fire pit or fireplace – and envision its location in your outdoor space. Make your dreams come alive!

Check Local Regulations:

Before you begin, research any local regulations or permits needed for installing fire pits or fireplaces on your property.

Measure the Space:

Measure the area where you plan to install the fire pit or fireplace. Consider both the footprint and the height of the feature. Bring those measurements with you!

Select Fuel Type:

Determine whether you want a wood-burning or gas-powered fire feature. This choice will influence the materials and design you'll need.

Choose Materials:

Research different materials, such as bricks, stones, pavers, or metal components, that match your design and fuel type preference.

Sketch the Design:

Create a rough sketch of your fire pit or fireplace design, including dimensions, layout, and additional features like seating. Or bring a Pinterest photo. Show us!

Plan Seating:

If you're including seating around the fire feature, measure the space needed for comfortable seating arrangements. Aim for a minimum of 2 to 3 feet of clearance around each side of the seating area. Leave room for a table if you will have one. Leave the seating area 5 to 7 feet away from an open flame to prevent accidental contact or heat discomfort. If you plan to have chairs with reclining features or swivel seats, account for the additional space needed for these movements.

Check Safety:

Ensure adequate clearance from structures, trees, and other flammable materials. Safety is paramount in fire feature installations.

Prepare Base:

Determine if your fire feature requires a specific base, such as gravel or a fire-resistant pad, to protect the surrounding area.

Based on your measurements and chosen design, estimate the quantity of materials needed for construction. Use our calculators. Bring that number to us!
